The maximum dose you can TAKE depends entirely on you and your tolerance level.

The maximum dose that Percocet is AVAILABLE in is 10mg. For me, I generally take between 20-30mg at a time depending on how I feel. But I use a lot of it and have for many years, so my tolerance level is extremely high.

There is no maximum dose of opiate medications (or synthetic or semi-synthetic opiates). There is however, a maximum dosage of APAP (Tylenol or Acetaminophen) of 4 grams or 4,000 mgs daily. Obviously, the higher your tolerance & the longer you've been on the drug, the more of the opiate you must take to maintain pain control.

I currently take Percocet (Oxycodone 10mg, APAP 325mg) 2 pills every 4 hours, max 12 pills per day. That amount is a stregnth that would kill someone who doesnt take them regularly

the problem with 10mg or even 5mg percocet is that it is mixed with a fairly large amount of acetametaphene (Tylenol) which is harmful to the liver, and in cases has caused liver failure, so because of that it is dangerous to take that much percocet, however they do have just plain oxycodone (the narcotic in Oxycontin and percocet tablets without Tylenol in it)

But it is less likely that your doc will prescribe these!, it is quite unfortunate, the Tylenol, which is non addictive is actually more damaging (BY FAR) than the truly effective oxycodone mixed in with it --- Oxycontin is pure oxycodone, with a time release coating on the, unless they are chewed, then you get the full dose all at once.

any way depending on how much you weigh, lets say 180 you would "maybe start to get a little too high at 80 or 90mg of oxycodone, which of course would be 8 or 9 of the 10mg percocets, Wayyyy too much Tylenol , you would risk liver damage.!!!

Effective dose life is about 6 hours, depending on the patient, dependency, how long you've been using it, etc. For example, I've used Percocet 10/325's for 8 years now, and I go through 120-150 per month, in addition to my Duragesic patches. At the dependency and tolerance levels I'm at, I get maybe 4-6 hours. Initial onset is between 15-30 minutes, then 5-6 hours effective relief. It's the same for each Percocet dose.

It usually takes about a day for your system to process it completely, but again, it's different for each person - those are just averages.

It is *extremely* dependant on your opiate tolerance. It's impossible to answer without knowing your tolerance.
