There is no time limit on how long to brush your hair for so there isn't an exact requirement. What some people find is brush your hair to free it from Knots and To styles it in its own manner (how you would like it to look) then simply leave it until you want to brush it again. If you do brush your hair for along time going over and over it you may find that your hair goes static this isn't always a good look because it can stick to your face and look a bit of a mess , also brushing it for to long can create split ends but that's if your brushing it really hard for ages.
