According to the American Battle Monuments Commission, there were 116,516 American causalities in World War I.

Figures for losses by all countries are difficult to calculate due to inconsistent record keeping and destruction of record and people due to the war. The best estimate may be figures cited from The Longman Companion to the First World War (Colin Nicholson, Longman 2001, pg. 248) of a total of 8,281,250. See link below for estimates per country.

It is estimated that at least 10 million soldiers from Europe died. Overall, about 20 million people, both military and civilian, died in that horrible war.
