Cheetah's are extinct in the wild in India. They were hunted to extinction by humans. They were declared extinct in the 1940's. The government of India is planning to breed cubs in captivity and re-introduce them in the wild. They are importing Adult Cheetahs from Africa and are planning to breed them in captivity and then once they grow up, they will be released into the wild.

Only in zoos around the country. Cheetahs are extinct in the wild in india. Humans hunted them mercilessly and wiped them out.

Now, they are planning to start a breeding program with African cheetahs and then reintroduce them to the wild in india

No, the Asiatic cheetah is extinct in India since about 1947. Now that cheetah only occurs in Iran and is critically endangered. India is working on a plan to reintroduce the cheetah to that country.
