Windows is an "Operating System" not a program. And Windows 95 wasn't the first, there were earlier versions of windows and DOS, the first one called Microsoft Windows 1.0, and was released in 1985. Windows NT 3.1 was the first NT version of Windows (which all of the recent and upcoming versions are based on)
