According to Producer's Rice Mills, there are over 29,000 grains in a pound of long grain white rice.
You'd have slightly fewer for long grain brown, as each grain retains its bran layer. Short grain rice is 3-4 times shorter, so you'd have 3-4 times as many in a pound.

Long grain rice grows on a rice plant like all other rice seeds. Rice is normally grown as an annual plant, although in tropical areas it can survive as a perennial. The tra…ditional method for cultivating rice is flooding the fields while, or after, setting the young seedlings. While flooding is not mandatory for the cultivation of rice, all other methods of irrigation require higher effort in weed and pest control during growth periods and a different approach for fertilizing the soil. There are many varieties of rice and long grain rice is one. Thai Jasmine rice is long-grain. Chinese restaurants often serve long-grain as plain unseasoned steamed rice though short-grain rice is common as well. Japanese mochi rice and Chinese sticky rice are short-grain. Chinese people use sticky rice which is properly known as "glutinous rice" to make zongzi. The Japanese table rice is a sticky, short-grain rice. Japanese sake rice is another kind as well. Indian rice cultivars include long-grained and aromatic Basmati (grown in the North), long and medium-grained Patna rice and short-grained Sona Masoori (also spelled Sona Masuri).
it varies, but usually about 3754 grains if you are talking about long grain rice.
