Offically, 35-40 hours. In reality, much longer, due to grading, cleaning, etc.

In California schools, for example, teachers are typically required to work 30 minutes before and after the school day, plus be available for certain additional duties (unpaid sports and activities on evenings and weekends). The work week is estimated at 37.5 hours.

A new teacher in a middle school can expect to work about 75 hours each week, or more. This includes teaching, meetings with staff, meetings with families, yard duty, lesson planning, classroom preparation, and grading.

An experienced teacher in a high school, who might teach only one subject and has lesson plans that have been created over the years, and who has a couple of student teaching aides, might get away with working 'only' about 50 hours.
