FBI agents work long hours; according to their online guide to the Special Agent career path, they're expected to average 50 hour work weeks over the course of the year. You can read more about becoming a FBI Special Agent at their website or at your local library's career resources!

To apply, you must be between the ages of 23 and 37. You must have a four year college degree and be available to be posted anywhere in the world. There are five Special Agent Entry Programs - you'll need to qualify for one of them. They are:

  • Accounting
  • Computer Science/Information Technology
  • Language
  • Law
  • Diversified

"Diversified" means everybody who isn't an accountant, computer scientist, linguist, or lawyer. As you can see, the FBI is looking for very driven people with very specialized skills!

However, not everybody who works for the FBI carries a gun and badge. Other Bureau jobs have different requirements; you can read all about them on the website.
