Three.
One when he was captured by Terroists and forced to build weapons for them in the First one, and later improved by Obadiah Stane to try to destroy him, but he failed, and the suit was either scrapped or perserved. (I forgot.)
The second one was the sliver prototype, which was later modified by the US Army in the 2nd one, thanks to Rhodey. (They painted it black, by the way.)
And at last the Original red and gold suit we all know and love.
depending on how you look at it in the iron man movie there is 3 or 4 (inclouding iron monger) in the second movie there is 6 or 7 or 8 (incloding Ivan Vanko and the iron drones armor in the comics there are about 100 ( not incoding the villans) in the toys there are over 1000

Tony's new suit, the Mark VIII, Iron Patriot,(which isn't actually Iron Patriot, just War Machine repainted,) and Tony's tuxedo. :)
Originally, in the comics, Tony's iron suit was a greyish-silver, huge, clunky and inconvenient, he since converted it into a more sleek, red-and-gold version.
No! -He in fact does have several suits you may or may not be referring to. He has the Arctic Armor which is an off blue and silver which he wore in Iron Man 318, the Iron Man fantastic four armor which is more of a blue and black, the Iron Man stealth armor which appears in Iron Man #152, or the Patriot Armor which I think makes it's first appearance in the Dark Avengers story line but I may be mistaken.
Well iron man has many different suits im sure he has one for volcano or magma
Iron Man has created multiple suits over the years in the Marvel Comics, with different capabilities and designs. The exact number varies depending on the continuity and storyline, but he has created and used dozens of different suits for different purposes and situations.
since a spider has 8 legs, a spider man has 8 suits

Of course goku be cause he would kill iron man in 1 blast and iron man could not survive such a beam so it would penetrate through is suit and in his body. but if iron man doges his attack iron man can shoot goku while he is still doing his attack and iron man still has all of his suits he has seven suits so he can keep on switching but goku still has his same body. it will be very hard but in the end goku will win cause he can do the spirit bomb
The number of suits that one man may have in his closet room would depend on what he does for a living and how often he wears suits. The average man owns 2 suits.
Iron Man would win because Tony has a lot of Iron Man suits and can summon them whenever he needs to even all at once. Lex Luthor's suit is able to take down Superman only because his suits are based on kryptonite. Stark also knows more physical hand to hand combat.

There have been attempts to create a technology that matches an Iron Man type suit however there has not been any success in doing so. There are suits designed to be a clunky weapon and suits designed to fly but putting them together has not been achieved, also attempts at command controls like what Iron Man uses is a very primitive thus far.
