That's like asking "How many different lengths are there on a ruler ?" There may be only

a few marks, but there are an infinite number of possible numbers between the marks.

There are as many as you need in order to pin a location down to a thousandth of an inch

anywhere on the earth's surface, and an infinite number all together. Whatever two numbers

you choose ... no matter how close together they are ... I can always find another number

that's in between your two.

Latitudes range from zero to 90 degrees, north and south. Longitudes range from

zero to 180 degrees, east and west. Within those ranges, the measurements can

be anything at all. Every point on earth has a different set of coordinates, and

a point 0.00001 inch away from the first one has a somewhat different set.
