The old question "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a lollipop?", is a question that is very difficult to answer. Some have tried to count themselves but have failed. This could be for many reasons such as the following:
- Lost count of licks
- Ran out of time
- Amount of saliva in the mouth
- The lollipop expired
- The temptation was to great and you bit down and took a bite
- Tongue size
Thus there is no way to measure the actual amount of licks it takes to get to the center of a lollipop.
It only takes the wise old owl three licks, but then he bites down on it. So, as he is wont to repeat, we may never know...

∙ 13y agoactually it depends on controlled varibles like, How long are you licking it, How old is it, Are you sucking it, Are you eating it in a hot or cold tempature, How is it packaged? Ps: My results might not be 100% accurate!
Really, it depends on how strong your jaw bone is as to how strong your tongue is, which Defines how many licks it DOES take to get to the center of a tootsie pop...
