No great distance at all - certainly not measured in miles. After sentencing at Pilate's palace in Jerusalem, Jesus was scourged (whipped) before his crucifixion. This was common practice in Roman law and if you saw the film 'The Passion of Christ' you would know how cruel this was. Whips that had lead balls woven into them would tear deepy into flesh so that the victim lost a great deal of blood and went into severe shock even before the actual crucifixion. Not everyone survived the scourging so that quite commonly the crucifixion that followed would be that of a dead, or at least dying, body.
After scourging, the weak Jesus was then forced to Cary the crossbeam - a long thick beam of wood that would become the horizontal of the cross when slotted into place. The Hollywood depiction of him carrying the whole cross is a misconception - this hardly ever happened during crucifixions as the upright would ready have been wedged into place in the ground, ready for the victim.
According to Archaeology of the city, the distance from Pilate's palace through the network of alleys of Old Jerusalem through to Golgotha (The 'Place of the Skull') where the Crucifixion took place would be probably less than a mile or two, even considering all the twists and turns of the alleys. However, we are told that after the scourging Jesus was too weak to carry the cross any distance and so the Roman authorities drafted in Simon of Cyrene - a visitor to the city - to carry the crossbeam for him. At which point on the journey this happened we are not told, so it is impossible to say exactly how far Jesus actually carried his cross - but one thing is certain is that it was not a great distance and probably far less than a mile.
According to the story he carried the cross he was executed on to the place of execution, or at least some of the way. (Matthew 27, Mark 15, Luke 23, John 18-19)
The Bible says that his journey started from the courtyard of the Roman Governor's (Pontius Pilate's) Palace in Jerusalem. After his journey had started, three of the gospels add that a certain Simon from Cyrene was forced into service to carry the cross, with Jesus walking ahead under military escort. Their journey ended at Golgotha (Skull Place / Calvary), a place of execution outside the city.
The route is not exactly known, but has been reconstructed from historical evidence and accounts from the same time period. A tour of Jerusalem can include a walking tour of the alleged route.
There is no name given to it in Scripture, but by tradition it is called the Via Dolorosa - see below (from Wikipedia)
The Via Dolorosa (Latin for Way of Grief or Way of Suffering) is a street, in two parts, within the Old City of Jerusalem, held to be the path that Jesus walked, carrying his cross, on the way to his crucifixion. The current route has been established since the 18th century, replacing various earlier versions. It is today marked by nine Stations of the Cross; there have been fourteen stations since the late 15th century, with the remaining five stations being inside the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
Mapping out the Stations of the Cross on Google earth with the starting place being the Antonia Fortress and the end being the Church of the Holy Sepulchre it is about .35 miles.

The Gospels do not state how many miles from Pilate's palace to Golgotha, in which Our Lord Had Walked, but, I would say that He Must Have Walked at least 4 miles, by the time of His Third Fall, under the Heavy Cross.
