How many miles does the hyt hytera pd782 digital portable two way radio?
It depends on the terrain, buildings, etc but the UHF PD782 I have used can access a repeater well over 15-20 miles away in digital with no problems. For simplex (no repeater) I have not tried that but you probably could get a mile to possibly a couple of miles again depending on the terrain, buildings, etc - much like what you would see with a UHF FM analog portable.

About 10 miles depending on the conditions. (high buildings will decrease the range)
Quiet Talk is achieved through the use of a Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System or CTCSS. This is a circuit that is used to reduce the annoyance of listening to other users o…n a shared two-way radio communications channel. It is also sometimes called tone squelch. Where more than one user group is on the same channel (called co-channel users), CTCSS filters out other users if they are using a different CTCSS tone or no CTCSS.Receivers equipped with a CTCSS circuit usually have a switch that selects normal mode or CTCSS mode. When enabled, the CTCSS radio circuit, instead of opening the receive audio for any signal, causes the two-way radio receiver's audio to open only in the presence of the normal RF signal AND the correct sub-audible audio tone (sub-audible meaning that the receiver circuitry can detect it, but is not apparent to the users in the audio output). This is akin to the use of a lock on a door. A carrier squelch or noise squelch receiver not configured with CTCSS has no lock on its door and will let any signal in. A receiver with CTCSS circuitry (and with it enabled) locks out all signals except ones encoded with the correct tone. CTCSS can be regarded as a form of in-band signaling.
Ok well X-rays and Radio waves are similar since they both are on the EM Spectrum. They both travel the sames speed which is like the speed of light. I'm actually doing an… apa format paper right now and I have to research radio and ex-rays, so this information is accurate because I have been researching for SEVERAL hours.....ok now back on task...hehe. Well X-rays and Radio waves because they are the same as light and electromagentic radiation ;). Like I said, they are both on the EM spectrum except the radio waves is the first one so its 700 nanometer while the x-rays is the second to last (closer to 400 nanometers). Yes, it is possible to use direction finder devices (usually radio receivers with directional Antennas abbreviated to "DF receivers"), the most common and oldest method is tri…angulation of the the two way radio signal by two and ideally three DF receiver stations, these will compare results and they will be able to locate a two way radio device quite accurately as long as it is transmitting reasonably continuously. At VHF & higher frequencies there are direction finders that use a special antenna array on top of vehicle and use methods to detect the Doppler effect by doing timing comparisons of the received two way signal by switching the receiver to different positioned and phased antennas and the results from the receiver detected pass through a signal processor which can process and and indicate the origin of a two way signal with reference to the DF receiver antenna array position and display it on a screen. Cell phones locations are detected in a similar way by using various cell sites and special processing Software to get an accurate fix on the cell phone position.
