According to one of the most highly-regarded studies on religion in the US - the "American Religious Identification Survey (ARIS)" - the percentage of Americans not identifying with a specific religion was 15% as of 2008. Among this 15%, only 0.7% considered themselves "atheist" and 0.9% considered themselves "agnostic". ∙ 11y agoIt depends on how you term "not religious".
If "not religious" means any Jew who is not Orthodox, roughly 85% of America's Jewish population is not religious, or roughly 5.1 million people.
If "not religious" means any Jew who does not ascribe to any Jewish religious movement (i.e. Atheist Jews), the number drops precipitously to 10% of America's Jewish population, or roughly 600,000.
The overwhelming majority of American Jews are either Reform or Conservative Jews.

As with most English people (which originally created the US) the religion of the US in 1785 ,as it now, is predominatly Protestant Christian. I am not sure if it was made the state religion. This may sound weird for many Americans in the South-West USA (like California and Texas) because most people there are Catholic Christian (because of the Latin American Heritage majority).
