There's no way to tell. What areas are you asking about? It would help if you selected a specific continent. They didn't do exact censuses or keep birth records back then and many people lived as 'property' (cerfs, slaves, etc.) for rich landowners. It was difficult to tell how many people were aliv…e back then, let alone how many died. (MORE)

In the 1990s, a group of lawyers from Canada and USA tried to findan answer to this question. After a few years of research, theycame to the conclusion that approximately 7 to 10 million Ukrainians were killed in the Holodomor. Edited; 7-10million? it was over 20 million, more than the Holocaust,… and alsoStalin tried to cover up for what he did e.g. burning and buryingthe bodies so they wouldn't be found. Those "lawyers" did some lazywork. Also dont take any information of random sites, they're neveraccurate find some books, actual books, from that time period, notsome journalist report that doesn't know what he/she talking about. Some stories that I've heard growing up as a kid in Ukraine, gaveme shivers. A true story about a mother and her baby that they werestarving. The mother was so hungry that she was actuallyconsidering to eat her own child, her breasts did not produce milkbecause she hadn't eaten food for a long period of time, so shecouldn't feed it. Seeing the baby starving to death she couldn'ttake it, so she killed the baby and herself, to put them both outof misery, and that was just one person and an infant, now imagineover 20 million people starving, and the kind of stories they had.
