A lot of kids think they can "multi-task" and watch TV while they work - this never turns out as well as they think it will. Your brain can't concentrate on two things at once, so if the TV is on, your mind is thinking about that instead of doing your work. There are no actual studies on this, so there are no numbers, but there are a lot of kids who could be making better grades if they'd turn off the TV and other distractions.
aproximately 23 percent
I don't, though many do.AnswerI do not know the percentage of people who watch TV whilst doing homework but I am sure it is quite high. I used to watch TV whilst doing homework but that was because there was no where else where I could sit down apart from the dining room table. Eventually we got a desk in a different room and within seconds I was using it and I didn't have to watch TV at the same time. It is difficult and is a time-waster as well as a distraction. Tip: DON'T DO IT! I don't know how many kids watch t.v. while doing their homework but about 23% of kids watch t.v.instead of doing their homework.
To Much when they should be doing homework and reading books
idk try doing ur homework somewhere else hahaha
they're fun and addicting but you better watch out they can distract you and keep you from doing homework
Television viewing negatively impacts students because it keeps students from doing their homework. There are many students that fight with their parents to watch television instead of doing other things. Another negative impact on students is that they lack physical activity.
Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy only allows people with exceptional SAT or any other tests scores. The only problem: Teenagers often allow themselves to stay up to midnight doing homework, and they often do their homework with other people in the room with music playing. Avoid that... watch out for bad roommates!
It really depends on the student doing the homework. If the student can go on their computer and not listen to music, watch videos, or check email, then yes the computer does increase homework speed especially if they are writting and essay or biography. Otherwise, going on the computer to do homework is a waste of time becasue they could be doing anything... like looking on WikiAnswers for unanswered questions to answer. i.e. Me. that's what im doing... im also listening to music and chatting with friends on IM... but im still doing my homework... it's just taking a long time to do so.
On a schoolday: Biking to school.. doing schoolstuff, biking back to home, make homework / play on the computer / watch tv, sport (soccer maybe)
Doing homework while watching the television is multi-tasking, which splits the brain's focus and lowers efficiency. Furthermore this means that you are concentrating on two separate things, more likely to get distracted to the TV than homework because it is more enjoyable. Thus, this results in you getting distracted and exceeding the amount of time it takes until you have finished your homework. Since watching TV while doing your homework slows you down, do them separately. Do some of your homework, and then you can reward yourself with a brief break in which you can watch a little TV or call a friend. Then get back to doing your homework so that you can finish it and enjoy the rest of your evening.
I am in a meditative mood: instead of *doing*, I will sit and watch my thoughts and emotions.
It really depends whether you like watching television or doing active sports, but just remember that instead of watching television, it is great to get outside and get active! :)
