2.66" 200-pin SO-DIMM contains DDR2 SDRAM. One notch is near the side of the module.
DDR SDRAM has one notch and uses 184 pins.
Unfortunately, no. DDR RAM will not work in a DDR2 motherboard, and DDR2 RAM will not work on a DDR3 motherboard. There are a few motherboards that have slots for both DDR and DDR2, so it is conceivable that there could be motherboards with slots for both DDR2 and DDR3.
It depends on what type of RAM it is. Each type of RAM has different notches to prevent you from installing the wrong type by accident.
There are many types of ram. Most current fall under the category of DIMM modules. There are many specifications such as DDR/DDR2/DUAL CHANNEL, etc. If you are specifically asking what model would work with your computer, please post your make/model and we can help you. Many memory retailers such as PNY and CRUCIAL have memory configurators that allow you to do just that, you can give them a try.
assuming everything else is compatible, the memory is not an issue. many graphics card have ddr4 and ddr5 memory which isn't even available as RAM yet.
"Yes of course you can purchase the 4GB DDR2, dual channel Kit Desktop Memory. You can also search for many other useful items, from computer software to cell phones."
DDR2 800 is a model of computer memory which one can purchase at many computer electronics stores. Some of these include Future Shop, Best Buy as well as Amazon.
DIMM. Two types of DIMMs: a 168-pin SDRAM module (top) and a 184-pin DDR SDRAM module (bottom). Note that the SDRAM module has two notches (rectangular cuts or incisions) on the bottom edge, while the DDR1 SDRAM module has only one.
There are 240 pins on DDR2 and DDR3.

HP/Compaq nc6400 has 2 DDR2 (speed up to PC2-5300 (667MHz)) slots and can have maximum total RAM of 4GB. Memory module upgrades are farely easy and straight forward. Just get a compatible memory and add/upgrade in the memory slot which is mostly accessible from bottom of the laptop by removing one or two screws. Here is a tutorial for memory replacement/upgrade from HP for this series of laptops. http://bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00713949/c00713949.pdf - Neeraj Sharma
