The dating of Shakespeare's plays is notoriously uncertain. The following might have been written in 1596:

  • Midsummer Night's Dream
  • Romeo and Juliet
  • Richard II
  • Merchant of Venice
  • King John
  • Henry IV Part 1

Now it's unlikely that he wrote six plays that year. A lot of people would say that Romeo and Juliet and Richard II were written the year before.

Three. However, Henry VI is not really the main character in any of them. Part 1 is all about Talbot and Joan of Arc; Part 2 is about the Jack Cade rebellion; Part 3 is about York, Queen Margaret and Edward IV
