Aprroximately two million (2,000,000) Indians served in the British Indian Army during the war. My understanding is that they were mostly assigned to support duties but I don't know that for certain. Another twenty thousand (20,000) or so fought for the Japanese. I don't know how many of either of these groups died in the war. Since it has now been nearly sixty years since the war most of them are undoubtedly dead now. The rest are very old men. Michael Montagne
