There are no stars in Mississippi; the stars are up in the sky, very far away.
During the day, you can only see the one star, the close-up one we call the Sun. At night, it depends on where you live. In urban areas with streetlights, you're lucky to see a few hundred of the brighter ones. Out in the country away from city lights, there are between 2000 and 3000 stars visible.
