There are 77,437 words in the Qur'an.

Another answer

As an estimate, I would say that there are at most 7,000 unique "words" in the Qur'an in the sense of what you would need to have a lexicon with wide-ranging coverage for the Qur'an. Something also interesting to note, is the Zipfian distribution. A handful of words (e.g., the top 100 words) will cover a very large percentage of the actual Qur'an, i.e., most verses (the 80/20 rule).

(For more information on Qur'an statistics, see the Related question.)
According to the website qurannetwork, there are 77,701 words in the Holy Qu'ran.
In Holy Quran there are 77701 words.

Some available statistics are:

  • There are 114 surahs (chapters) in the Quran.
  • There are 30 ajza' (volumes/parts) to the Quran.
  • There are 6236 verses in the Quran (7 verses in the first chapter with Bismillah included but with Bismillah not included for other surahs, otherwise it is: 112 + 6236 = 6348).
  • The "Bismillah" opening phrase is mentioned at the beginning of 113 Surahs and once in the text of Surat al-Naml, so 114 times in total in the whole Quran.
