Both airlines have had a hard time, but overall I think that AMERICAN AIRLINES is the better line. UNITED is a good line but I don't think it has it all together yet.I MUCH prefer United over American. I fly coast to coast regularly, and United's p.s. service is the best in the sky. Extra legroom, exceptionally good food, friendly professional staff, excellent IFE, and dedicated 757's on the route, and of course Channel 9. As a 1K mileage plus, I also get tons of perks, but I'm sure American has something similar for their frequent fliers. The few flights I had on American were on very old MD80 planes, and the seats were very close. The offered $10 sandwiches, which is considerably more than United. There was no IFE, no Channel 9, no nothing. They were not that friendly either, but we were flying to Dallas which might explain it.Regardless, both United and American are still better than Delta, the worst of the worst.
