It depends on the potato. Red potatoes are smaller than Russets and so forth.
For a standard white or Russet potato, it would be about 46-47 medium whole potatoes OR 15.5 pounds.

∙ 15y agoGenerally, you use one medium potato per person (depending on the "size" people you are serving you may need a few large ones thrown in). If you are mashing them, add an extra potato or two "for the pan" since some will be left there.
