It depends from an even £600 to a £1000, note:- Coffins along with other things are exorbitantly expensive in the UK.

In the US, prices for caskets vary between around $ 500 (cloth covered wood) and almost $ 270,000 (manufacturer's suggested list price of the cast bronze "Pharaoh Sarcophagus" casket). According to recent statistics (2014) the average retail price for caskets is around $ 2,500.

Casket prices vary considerably both at the wholesale and at the retail level.

At the retail level, the prices charged by the funeral homes are often - although not always - considerably higher than those of Online casket retailers.

In the US, retail prices currently (in 2014) start around $ 500 for simple cloth covered wooden caskets as well as for wood veneer and very simple solid wood caskets. The cheapest hardwood caskets cost around $ 1,000. Metal caskets (unsealed 20 gauge steel) are available from about $ 700 upwards. Caskets made of semi precious metals (32 ga sheet copper or bronze) cost $ 2,000 upwards. The most expensive hardwood caskets (like Batesville's "Marsellus Masterpiece") can cost up to $ 40,000. The most expensive solid bronze casket (48 oz sheet bronze like Batesville's "Promethean" or York's "Marquis") can reach the same price level. The most expensive casket is currently York's 1,100 lbs heavy cast bronze "Pharaoh Sarcophagus" with a manufacturer's recommended retail price of around $ 270,000.
