IT SAYS THAT IT IS 7GB BECAUSE ALL OF THE SOFTWARE THAT HAS TO BE DOWNLOADED (SUCH AS THE CALCULATOR, NOTEPAD, WEATHER CHANNEL, SAFARI INTERNET, ETC.) IN ORDER TO DO ANYTHING ON THE IPOD TOUCH. HOPE THIS HELPS!

Pre loaded apps are already installed taking up space, the 8G only means the capacity of the memory chip, not how much space you have available. for example, i bought the 3rd Generation 64G i pod touch, it only had 58G when i turned it on.

Yes Yes Yes! I have a 32gb ipod touch and i think it is worth every penny. Music, movies, tv shows, video games, internet, and things such as contact lists and calenders. And its a watch and stopwatch. Dont be cheap and get the 8gb tho, (runs out of memory fast with all of those programs there. Me- i have 7gb of free space left. Soooo mucch fun. And the new touch has speakers built in, nike+ running feature built in, and a cell phone type of volume buttons on the side. Very nice ipod. I love it! Yes, the iPod Touch is completely worth it. It is basically a pocket computer, and if you get the right apps, can be extremely useful and entertaining.
