With new technology TV's like LCD/LED/Plasma, if its the panel that failed they often can not get repaired... So you have to buy a new one! Power supplies, tuners, various boards on the unit will often cost you close to half the price of the TV if you are paying for parts and labor. There is no real answer to the questions since there are so many variables. Take the guessing out and just buy what ever extended warranty the place you get your TV from offers.

∙ 13y agoThis all depends on what the fault is. Some faults can be as simple as replacing a fuse or a single component. Others might demand a new cathode ray tube or LCD display module and those will often cost several hundred dollars.
Modern television equipment is manufactured in a way that makes repair more difficult than ever before. More expensive test equipment is needed and in many cases, a repair requires a complete module to be replaced instead of the traditional component replacements. Both of these tend to push up the cost of repair while the purchase price of televisions continues to fall. Sadly, this often means that it is less expensive to buy a new one than repair an older model.
It is always worth getting a quote for a repair from a television repair center. All reputable firms will offer a price without making a charge.
