What ozone did not act as a filter?

Ozone is an isotope of oxygen. It acts as a filter to the earth.

Why would a Hayward Earth Filter's gauge keep going on 25 even after you backwash and the water is clean?

Have you cleaned the grids/fingers lately? They, the things that get coated with DE, need to be taken out and cleaned once a year. If you haven't, they likely have a coating on them, in addition to what you coated them with, causing the high pressure. You have to take them out and wash them. Different methods are hosing them and soaking in dishwashing liquid; putting them in automatic dishwasher a couple times (no heat dry!); soaking in muratic acid. See: http://www.haywardnet.com/owners/troubleshooting/filters.html#clean You might just need to buy a new pressure gauge. You can find parts online or try the hardware store or the pool supply place. I had the exact same problem with my filter. I use bacquacil Ultra and I would backwash the filter and a few hours later the pressure returned to the high level that it was prior to backwashing it. After taking my filter apart, I discovered a pink color on the filter grid. Through research I learned that the pink color was caused by "pink slime" and water mold which were clogging the filter. My water was very clear and I was unaware that I had these issues until I took the filter apart and learned that I had to treat the water with a chemical to remove the "pink slime" and water mold.. My hayward DE 4800 Filter has always read between 24 and 28PSI. The grids are clean in and out. I have been told it really depends on the plumbing. I have an oil fired heater as well as many elbows and 5 returns. I also run a 1 1/2 HP pump with it. I have been told to downsize the impeller to decrease the pressure and I have been told to leave it alone and it is fine. The pressure guage that comes with the filter is a cheap one and not the most accurate. Anyway, this is the way it has been since I got the pool with the house 8 years ago. Every filter has a different pressure due to the size of pipe, pump and distance to run. D.e. filters after backwashing need to have D.E. added back to them.Maybe your guage is broke does it go to 0 when your pump is off. Spiders can also get into the mech. and stop its proper function. As in the above Hayward DE 4800 Filter -- if you have a spa attached to the system remain with the pump you have. If not you may be able to replace the impeller with a .75 hp with the same motor. The extra cost is in the labor, new impeller, seal, gasket. It would be even more beneficial if you only had 1.5" plumbing. The motor would last longer -- less strain on motor. The pressure may not change drastically especially if you have 1.5" pipes. And as an added bonus, the filter might even run better. Less force thru the grids. You might even have more suction at the vac head believe it or not it is a fact. k

Are there any planets there you can replace Earth?

no. If there were, we Earthlings would have ruined it by now.

Can Diatomaceous earth filter fryer oil?

Of course it can, it is one of the best oil filters available. Do not use the oil for anything other than fuel in your bio-diesel vehicle. After you filter the oil you can use the diatomaceous earth in your mulch pile, it will help in the breakdown of the fibrous vegetation.

Why are the sun's rays more dangerous on the moon than on earth?

Because the Moon has no atmosphere to filter out dangerous radiation.

Should you backwash a pool when the water gets too hot?

The best way to determine this is to backwash the filter and see what the pressure is at that time. Then go 7-10 PSI above that and this will be your pressure to watch to tell you when to clean your filter.

How long should you wait after putting a bottle of sand filter revitalizer into a 19000 gallon underground pool?

Read your question again, You should immediately go fishing do not wait, Go to the restroom is fine and by the way sand filter revitalizer is most likely D.E or diatomacous earth which will actually clog up your sand filter, If your sand is older than 3 years and you backwash frequently. The only way to revitalize your filter is to get new sand and replace it. next time don't waste your money. And you can swim immediately, Though you should wait at least an hour for small particulates to settle. When you pump out oil out of the earth what do they replace it with?

Nothing. The oil is found in sand and dirt. When the pump the oil out the filter it and leave everything else behind

How do you back wash filter in pool?

that's simple. Backwash the same way you do normally but put the (earth) or diatanacious earth into the skimmer afterwards approx 5 lbs and always make sure you close the backwash valve before you put the earth into the skimmerNew AnswerIt's simple but not quite that simple! Depending on the filter valving type, reverse the flow through the filter either with a multiport valve, push pull valve or rotary valve (located as a lever at the bottom of the tank) Always shut off pump whyen switching the valve(s). Backwash until discharge runs clear. Resume normal filtering direction for 2-3 minutes and repeat 3 times to remove as much old DE as possible (By the way, It's DIATOMACEOUS Earth, NOT Diatanancious)Replace DE at a rate of 3/4 lb (about 3/4 of a one-pound cofee can) per each 10 square feet of filter area. Filter area will be the size of the filter grids and also the model no. of the filter (i.e: FNS 48 = 48 sq ft., Hayward DE36 = 36 sq ft.) Replacement DE should be added as a slurry (mixed with water) into the running skimmer slowly so as not to clog the pipes. Too much DE will cause premature filter loading and excessive pressure at the filter. Grids (internals) should be removed and thouroghly cleaned at least once a year. Check fabric grids for wear and tears. If you otice DE powder returning to the pool, you probably have a small tear in one of the grids.

Is earth high pass filter or low pass filter?

Earth is low pass filter, because it tends to absorbe the amblitude of the high frequency waves.

Hi have a hayward ec30 earth filter and the bump handle to regenerate the earth is limp it has no resistance at all with the filter on or off..any answers thanks?

Not sure with an EC30, I have an EC45 but assuming they are similar make sure the steel rod in the center top is attached to the bump handle.less likely:With an ec45 you can detach the top of the canister fairly easily and inspect the rubber gasket and fingers inside. look for a tear in the gasket, but you'd probably get D.E. going into the pool if this was the case.

What causes diatomaceous earth to accumulate on the swimming pool bottom?

I think you have a fault pool filter. The filter is filled with diatomaceous earth to trap algae and other particles. When there is a 'filter' to trap the diatomaceous earth and these other particles inside the filter until you clean it out. You probably have a leak so that the diatomaceous earth flows out of the filter together with the water that circulates trough it Correction: The filter is not "filled" with D E. There is only enough D E to lightly cover the internal grids. If one of them is torn or has a hole in it - there may be more than one bad one - you will get D E back to the pool each time the pump is turned on. Turn off the circuit breaker, releave the entrapped air from the filter, open the filter, remove as much De as possible then remove the grid assembly. Inspect all 8 filter grids for damage or tears and replace. When in doubt as to age of grids - replace. Reassemble filter, turn on the power and pump, add the correct amount of D E - see instructions on bag of D E - you should be ready for another 10 to 12 months of filter service before it has to be done all over again. This does not eliminate the need to back wash the filter as needed each month.

After backwashing a pool do you need to add earth back to the filter immediately?

Yes, the filter won't work without the earth. That's what traps everything else.
