Running a house in the US can go from very little to lots !
the range is huge ! electric stove, electric heat and air conditioner will add to the total.
but, running lights and a TV, your computer and such, will be between 500 to 2000 KWH per month.
an old refrigerator uses more. electric dryer ? more
those brick you plug in to power your answering machine and charge your cell phone use more than you expect.
Add up every device in your house, look at the bill and you can get what you use.
a family of 6 will use about double that of a single person.
1 KWH = 1000 watts for 1 hour or 100 watts for 10 hrs ect.
The United states produces 4.062 trillion kilowatt hours of electricity a year. The American population is 303 million so 4,062,000,000,000 / 303,000,000 /365 =37 kwh per American per day this does not include electricity imported from Canada. The average person in the world uses about 8 kwh. The American use is not much more than the average western country. This figure includes industry as well. Most homes use about 25-40 kwh /day or about 8-13 kwh per person.
