Best Answer

I just asked a reseller that same question as I have a first generation Macbook pro and wanted to upgrade to the larger hard drive and dual density DVD burner with faster wireless.

Here are the answers I got.....

Springboard media in Phila.PA says they buy them for about $1000.00 and sell them for about $1300.

I saw one in a pawn shop for $900.00 last week.

If you do find a used one make sure it is a core 2 duo (the newest) not the core duo processor.

The $1300.00 black macbook has all the features of the new pro except for the backlit keyboard and the separate video card. (not needed except for graphic professionals and gamers.)

These answers apply primarily to the 15.4 in model.

That would depend on what you define as "used". You should be able to find quite a few used MacBook Pro's on online bid sites such as eBay but I suggest trying the Apple store for refurbished portables. There are quite a few 17" MacBook Pro's available at the moment and they're all at quite good prices. The first one that's listed went from the original price of US$2799 to US$1899, that's almost a $1000 difference. All products from the Apple special deals store are Apple Certified Refurbished. You can find this store at: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?sf=wHF2F2PHCCCX72KDY&nclm=CertifiedMac If you do not live in the US, you can change your store by returning to the Apple store and selecting your home country at the bottom of the webpage. You may return to the special deals page by selecting the "Refurbished Mac" option in the "Special Deals" section on the left side of the webpage. I hope that helps, if you need more assistance feel free to message me.

It would depend on one's definition of a good price but one can find a used MacBook Pro for a reasonable price for around $400 to $600 on websites like ebay.
