Seven million EVERY day or 3 billion ,yes 3 billion every year. To this add arms "gifts" worth many many millions and an entire fleet of "surplus F16 fighter jets " by Dov Zakheim, the Pentagon's chief financial officer and prime architect of the Defense Department's self-styled fiscal transformation under the bush administration. This year we will give an additional 3 billion IRON DOME anti missile system.

In addition, when Dov Zakheim was comptroller at the pentagon, the Pentagon could not account for a trillion dollars in monies spent, and US Army lost track of 56 airplanes, 32 tanks, and 36 Javelin missile command launch-units.

(Just to put this in perspective of the Federal Budget, the money sent to Israel makes up less than 0.01% of all Federal Expenditure.)

Cost to U.S. Taxpayers of U.S.

Aid to Israel

Grand Total

$84,854,827,200

Interest Costs Borne by U.S.

$49,936,680,000

Total Cost to U.S. Taxpayers

$134,791,507,200

Total Taxpayer Cost per Israeli

$23,240

This material is collected from the Related Link below, where these figures are

titled "A conservative estimate". Again, an "... Estimate ...".

Looking at the last two items on the list -- "Total Cost ..." and "... per Israeli" --

we can see that the Israeli population is assumed to be 5.8 million ... about 27.5%

too low, which makes the $23,240 figure 27.5% too high, apparently for the effect.

If you do visit that site, you'll find no context there, such as the corresponding

costs to the US taxpayers for aid to Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan,

Iraq, Libya, etc. and other places awash in oil where anti-American demonstrations

and ambushes are almost daily occurrences. Although that site is sub-titled a

"Middle East Report", you'll find nothing there but anti-Israel talking points. If

that's what you're looking for, then it's certainly a convenient one-stop-shop.

The latest available figures put Israel's foreign currency reserves at 90 billion U.S. dollars. This amount can and does fluctuate by as much as 10% over the course of a year, pursuant to various normal factors. There is a further 83 billion U.S. dollars in direct foreign investment. Israel's economy has been very strong for the last ten years; and the international recession of 2008 and following years, which brought a number of European countries to their knees, affected Israel only in minor ways if at all.

Out of the world's roughly 200 countries, Israel ranks in the 29th place for gross national income per capita, between Japan and Italy.
