Assuming you have a chlorine generator and actually need to add salt, the amount is determined by the manufacturer of the device you purchased. Looking in the instruction manual will tell you what the required sodium level is for your particular unit (somewhere around 3,000 ppm is typical). Then you must test the water to see what the sodium level is currently. The difference is what needs to be made up. It takes roughly 25lbs of salt per 1,000 gallons of water to go from zero to 3,000 ppm. So you need about 112 lbs if your 4,500 gallon pool is at zero ppm now. Pool & Spa
My first question is - do you have a salt generating system on that size pool? If not you can not just put salt into a pool and think it is a pool with salt that in it that is forming or making chlorine . k Our salt generating system came in today--my calculations were 137 pounds of salt, but the box says 135 pounds of salt. I will be adding what the directions say. Thanks!
You need about 50 pounds of salt for every 2000 gallons of water if the
pool is filled with fresh water. For 5000 gallons you would need 125 pounds of salt.
Intex Pool manual states that a 5061 gallon pool requires 125 Lbs. A 5455 gallon pool requires 135 Lbs. This should give you a good starting point.
Approximately 90-140 pounds of salt will be enough for 9500 gallons of water in the pool.
15 40 pound bags
1020 lbs
The answer is 208 lbs of salt. The equation is roughly 26lbs per 1000 gallons.
H2O NaCl
Approx 4.4 gallons per hour on full blast.
3 . 687 gallons??? That is not much larger than a 5 gal. bucket.About an eye dropper full.
above ground pool 18X48 how many gal
how much chlorine do I put for a 1,718 gallon pool
1/2 a bag OS shock
Need more data. Lets assume your adding the salt because you have a chlorine generating system. First you must determine the salt content of the pool water using either test strips or chemicals. The water should be between 2500 and 4000 PPM. Once you determined the present salt level you will know how much to add. Basic rule is 50lbs per 2000 gal. You could have just as the pool supply store or google searched it.
better to get a bag of shock rather then guess and do it yourself local pool supply should have it
6000 gal
the salt comes with a scoop and 1 per gal of water is what I do and it has worked great for me
If you have purchased Saline System equipment, you add regular 'salt' to the pool water. The salt (sodium chloride) is pure evaporated ocean salt - the same as you would use at the dinner table. Use 'rock' salt, but make sure it is sodium chloride and not potassium chloride (which is sold for some types of water softeners). Minimum salinty varies with the brand of saline system equipment, but is usually in the 3000-4000ppm range. 3000ppm is the same as 0.3%, by weight. Multply gallons x 8.33 to get weight of water in pounds, then x 0.003 to get pounds of salt.
