Puppies need to eat a lot--and not too much. You should be able to feel but not see their ribs, and they should have a visible waist when you look down at them. This is true for puppies of any breed, big or small.

*It depends a lot on the breed. For example, yorkies eat much less than mastiffs. Look on the dog/puppy food bag for the amount your dog should eat. Though amounts on the bag are always the maximum to give your dog.

It depends on what type of food you are feeding your dog, due to the varying amounts of ingredients and calories in each brand. I recommend feeding your 10 month old mastiff a dry food specially formulated for large breed puppies, as mastiffs are not done growing until they are about 2 years old. Feed your mastiff a food that is preferably organic, or at least does not contain byproducts, corn, or fillers. The first ingredient should be a whole meat, such as lamb, but not a lamb meal or other animal meal. I highly recommend From puppy formulas. :) You can see how much to feed your puppy on the back of the bag of food. You can also mix the dry with wet food for extra taste. (www.fromfamily.com). :) Hope this helped! *Make sure to visit your vet often while your large breed puppy is still growing to make sure all the joints are healthy.

Is it a small puppy? If it is then you need to feed it maybe around two. If it's a big one, then probably about 3-4 (two large cups that u may drink from). And I am talking about small cups. If you mean cup as in measurement than yes that is what I am talking about.

You really want to get this right. Too much or too little of the wrong type of food will harm development: It's determined by breed, weight, food quality, and intended purpose. For example, if you're working a German Shepherd daily with basic agility training, he/she requires more food than a regular sedate house pet. There is also a detailed answer in this thread as to what to look for in quality food in this thread though the reference escapes me at the moment.

If you know the breeder, just ask what diet the dog has been on. If not, find a reputable one, familiar with your breed, and ask (doesn't have to even be in your area). Good breeders/trainers know the current market. A phone call will usually do. Most will willingly share the info and when to change food types. Also, inquire when and how to change food as the dog develops.

Breeder/Trainers that know your breed are your best bet. They're always looking for brands that best develop their dogs and those typically aren't found in your grocery store. Vets often have an agenda (and profit) in selling particular brands. That said, if you have any difficulties, DO consult your Vet.

You can phone your vet and get this information or get it from any large Pet Shop. Buy good food for your puppy and you will have to ask what the best food is. Also on the bag of dry food it usually gives you directions for feeding your puppy. All dogs, whether puppies or adult dogs should be fed twice a day. Once in the morning and at dinnertime (puppies can have very small meals more than 2 times a day but no more than 4 times a day). By doing this there is little chance of your dog's stomach becoming acidic and perhaps vomiting or drinking lots of water to compensate. All puppies that drink or eat should be taken out to 'do their business' and if you aren't paying attention and the dog poops or pees in the house then you can't blame the dog.

Is the dog mature now? or a pup? Mature dog at 10 lbs eats less, i'd guess at 1/2 cup of food or 1/4 cup two times a day http://www.vetinfo.com/dencyclopedia/deindex.html

It depends on the age, size, weight, and breed of dog.

There are so many different breeds it's hard to say. A little toy poodle could weigh 5 pounds at 10 months, a German Shepard might weigh 40 pounds at 10 months old.
