Up to and including 1964 they were 90% silver. After 1965 they contained no silver except for special coins the mint produced for collectors.

Old silver quarters (dated before 1965) were 90% silver/10% copper with a total weight of 6.25 grams. Modern circulating quarters contain no silver.
