HDD (Hard Drive) Memory - There are multiple ways to check:

1. In the start menu (or on your desktop) click My Computer. If it doesn't say the total memory under the C: drive icon, then right click it -> Properties, and it should say the total memory.

2. Inside the computer, you can take a look at the actual hard drive. They almost always have a sticker with the total memory on it. If not, then you can try to find a product number/ID to Google.

RAM (Random Access Memory) -

Again, there are multiple ways to find out:

1. Start menu -> Right click "My Computer" -> Properties. In Windows Vista/7, the RAM shows up under System -> Installed Memory

2. If you open up your computer, look for the RAM cards (usually multiple slots) that are long and short. If they don't say the amount of storage they have, you can always google the product number/ID.

There is no correct answer.

It is ENTIRELY dependant on what you do, how much you download, and how likely you are to be able to delete things to make more space available.

Also the desired performance level, and cost limitations.

What have good memory for the computer?

It depends on what kind of computer and how powerful it is but generally when buying a computer there will be a number for memory and hard drive the memory is how much room your have for open programs/clipboard /files open etc. the more memory the better especially if you multitask 4gb is a good amount the hard drive is storage for files such as music picture documents and programs again the more you can get in your price range the better but focus more on the memory to have a fast computer

What do you have to consider when adding memory modules to a computer?

When the computer starts to present loss of memory or becoming forgetful. 2 to 4 GB is a good amount of memory for any computer.

Is it good to have a lot of computer memory?

Yes in short it is. A basic explanation of computer memory (or Random Access Memory or RAM) is the place where your computer stores things in the short term that don't need to be remembered (if they did need to be remembered they would be on the hard drive), the more Memory you have the more data can be stored in this space.

What makes a computer a gaming pc?

A good computer should have more Pings, which reduces lag and keeps your computer having a good frame rate. A good computer to buy are alienware computers, which are mainly for online gamers.

What computer is good for gaming?

Personally any puter with a solid state hard drive with tons of memory and a top of the line game card.

Does larger computer memory have greater speed?

It depends on what type of memory you are talking about. With RAM (Random-Access-Memory), the amount of information it can hold is fairly low, but the speed at which the computer can access the information is much faster than the speed of a hard drive. Another factor in the speed of computers is the CPU and the motherboard itself. Depending on when the motherboard was manufactured and how good the CPU is, there is a limit past which the motherboard will not be able to use any more RAM you put in the computer. Filling the capacity of the motherboard for RAM does improve PC speed, but if the CPU is an old or slow one it won't matter. Also, the hard drive memory (which is larger in size but information takes longer to access) can factor into speed. If the hard drive that the operating system is installed on is completely full, then it will slow down the computer. The reason is that when the RAM is maxed out, the computer will automatically configure part of the free space on a hard drive to use as RAM.

Which is faster memory in computer?

It is faster to access RAM than the Hard Drive in a computer, this is why lots of RAM is good, as the computer can store more data on it that is being used so it can be accessed and thus run faster.

What is a good size for computer memory sticks?

Computer memory sticks come in many sizes. One needs to choose the size most appropriate to one's electronic devices. One also has to keep in mind the amount of memory one requires before purchasing any stick.

What does GB of Ram mean?

GB is an acronym for gigabytes. Gigabytes is a unit of measurement used to quantify different capacities of certain components in a computer. StorageMemoryHard drives also use the designation GB. It is not considered memory but the amount of information a hard drive can hold. The number is substantially higher than memory numbers. RAMMemory in a computer helps the computer run multiple applications as well as keep the overall computer's performance efficient. Boot time and application start-up is affected by memory.Another name for GB memory is RAM, which stands for Random Access Memory.

Is it possible to use a flash drive instead of physical ram on a computer that doesn't have ram?

No, you can not use a flash drive in place of RAM. Even if you could, it would not be a good alternative to RAM. Flash drives have a much slower data transfer rate, and a longer access time. Even if this were possible, it would drastically slow your computer down. Windows Vista does have the capability to use a flash drive to improve the computer's performance - it is a feature called ReadyBoost. ReadyBoost allows a flash drive to be an intermediary between the RAM and Virtual Memory. Virtual Memory is stored on your hard drive - it is used to swap items stored in RAM that are not being used to speed up the memory access time for things that are being used. Since Flash Drives are usually faster than hard drives, if you have a small amount of memory on your PC, it can speed it up.
