Very low sugar content. But be carefull because any alchohol consumption can lower blood glucose levels because the liver then holds on to the sugars to break down the alcohol. Rum is made from molasses and sugar cane. Confusing I know but the process leaves little or no actual sugar. Alchohol is what it is... so if diabetic limit to 2 drinks and make sure you eat. I drink Baccardi Light and Diet Coke or Fresca. The lower the proof the lower the calories also. 80 proof = 100cal.

Rum contains no sugar, carbs, sodium or fats of any kind. 'Sweet' spirits have added sugar to the spirits.

There are several varieties or rum, notably dark vs. light, and they don't all have the same sweetness. But rum has much more alcohol than it has sugar.

Does Bacardi rum have sugar in it?

"no" According to the label, it contains no sugar. According to nutritional charts, rum contains no sugar. Of course it does. Rum is distilled from sugar cane. That being said the content is quite low as it does get converted into alcohol, but it does have sugar. The above is incorrect. There is no sugar in distilled spirits unless it is added after distillation. See nutritiondata.self.com/facts/beverages/4011/2 for details. Total carbs for gin, rum, vodka, and whiskey = 0. "Nope, the above is still correct. First off, we don't know what type of Bacardi is being talked about. Silver (should) be sugar free, but dark, and any of the flavor varieties will contain sugar. What do you think makes dark rum? Some of the color comes from the aging in oak casks, but it is also from adding caramel to the rum after fermentation. Guess what caramel is?"
