Who is "they"? Call them and ask them. Often the best way to find out something you want to know from someone is to ... ask them. Amazing! A lot of mechanics (or doctors offices or dentists etc) can be very helpful if you can phrase your question well and make it easy for them to answer - i.e. don't just call up 5 minutes before closing time and say "what kind of oil do I need?" - call up earlier and say "what kind of oil do I need for my 1991 Plymouth laser in the summertime?"
Hopefully this helps. Find a local shop that you trust (and if you don't know which to trust, just call a bunch and talk to them and go from there). Be friendly! Good luck!
