Since the perimeter of this square is 2,045 feet and there are 5,280 feet in one mile, you would have to walk around the square about 2.58 times before you reached one mile. (5280 / 2045 = about 2.58)

It depends on the shape o f the area. It could be a very long and narrow rectangle.

-- answer--

5 acres = 24,200 square yards

A square measuring 5 acres has a perimeter of 622.25 yards.

Three times around that and you'd have walked 1866.75 yards, or 1.06 miles.

Theoretically, a long thin rectangle measuring 5 acres could have 2 short sides of 1 yard and 2 long sides of 12,100 yards.

One time around that and you'd have walked 13.75 miles

It depends on the shape of the acreage. The circumference/perimeter cannot be determined based solely on the size of the area. For example, a 100 sq. ft. room could be 10x10x10x10 (40 ft. perimeter), 1x100x1x100 (202 ft. perimeter), etc. If you don't know the perimeter of the acreage, but you know it's a perfect square, circle, or equilateral triangle, the perimeter could be determined, or if you knew it was a perfect rectangle and the long side was exactly 1.5 times the short side or something, it could be determined.. but if you don't know the proportions of the sides, it would have to be measured. If you have access to a survey of the property, you might be able to find the perimeter there (don't know this for a fact, but they do walk the perimeter to survey the land...)

Once you know the perimeter, convert it to miles.

1 MI/perimeter = number of "laps" that equals a mile.

Some conversion factors:

1 Square Mile = 640 Acres

1 Mile = 1760 Yards

1 Yard = 3 Feet

1 Mile = 5280 Feet

If the acreage is exactly square, here's your solution:

1.5 AC = 1.5/640 SQ MI

The SQUARE ROOT of 1.5/640 SQ MI = approx. 31/640 MI length of each side

31/640 MI x 4 Sides = 124/640 MI perimeter

1 MI / 124/640 MI = approx. 5 1/6 laps

How much of a side is that 1/6 of a lap?

Since 1/6 is of the entire perimeter, to determine the fraction of a side, multiply by the number of sides:

1/6 lap x 4 sides = 2/3 of a side

So, if the acreage is square, you would run about a mile if you ran around it 5 times, then ran 2/3 of the next side further.

Hope this helps!

Good luck!

There's no single answer, because there are an infinite number of correct answers. From knowing the area (1 acre), that doesn't tell you the dimensions, or the perimeter(distance around the edge). Here are a few examples.
