How do they get the seeds out of grapes?

Nearly all grape vines that are grown are not grown from seeds, but from cuttings off of another vine. Grape growers have been doing this for hundreds of years, and it has beeen done so much that now, grapes don't grow with seeds in them.I live in central CA one of the largest grape growing areas of the United States and there are seedless grapes and there are grapes with seeds. The person above is correct that vines are grown from cuttings and grafted to another vine. Some vines are hundreds of years old. The grapes you get in the store that are green are called Thomson seedless and they are used for raisins as well. There is another grape called Red Flame that is also seedless now sold.

Are sultanas healthier than raisins?

AnswerSultanas are made from green grapes. Raisins are made from dark grapes.According to OChef.com (see related links, below), the generic term for a dried grape is '''raisin'''. A '''Sultana''' is a particular type of raisin. Compared to a regular raisin a sultana is lighter in colour, sweeter and more moist, and less acidic.Originally, Sultanas were produced in Turkey, from the Sultana variety of grape. Nowadays, they are produced from the same variety of grapes as other raisins but by a different process. They are treated with sulphur dioxide and heated artificially. Other raisins are allowed to dry and darken in the sunlight.A heated debate exist between lovers of Sultana's and Raisins. Personally, I believe that raisins are considerably tastier and sultanas are icky. But Anna who is sitting here thinks that sultanas are better.

Can you Freeze Grapes?

OH YUMMY!!! Red grapes seedless of courses are excellent in the summer (or anytime of year) they are like candy from the freezer. They get sweeter. I learned this many years ago from my Italian grocer. Little sweet ice balls sooo yummy & refreshing.. OH I have to go out & buy some & freeze them now. Never tried any other seedless type though. I Have bought frozen fruit mixes the green grapes are sometimes added but they turn brown & mushy but the red are in there, I wonder how many people don't know if they don[t defrost them they are serving an extra treat! and...... OH PLEASE don't be tempted to give them to your dogs, they are harmful to dogs, all grapes & raisins are!! Make homemade frosty paws instead, much healthlier.
