fill it nearly to the top, res are very good swimmers and are naturally found in fairly deep pond waters. it should be in a 60+ gallon tank and have a dock [preferably home made for a res that size] so it can dry off and bask under the UV

Adult sliders need 75 gallons plus of water. Babies can be perfectly happy starting out in a 10gallon tank and upgrading as they grow. The water should be as deep as possible.

just set your turtle in the bottom of your tank and then pour water in the tank only about 4 or 5 inches above the turtle that way incase the turtle flips over he can flip back over.
