There is no definite answer but when the body doesn't receive solid food for a while it slows down one's metabolism so when you do decide to eat, your body will convert it all to fat, thus undoing what you tried to do in the first place. The key (as I see it) is to eat small amounts of food. 2000 calories will keep you at the same weight. Eat less than that or burn more via exercize and you lose weight!

You will lose probably about 5-7 lbs. But, Your body will be storing fat in the mean time, and eating your muscle. Then, when your 3 weeks are over, your body will keep storing the fat because it thinks you are in starvation mode, and doesn't want to die, so it will continue to store your fat for a long time. Obviously fat is harder to lose, so when you decide to lose weight again, it will be hard.

AnswerYou will lose alot of weight, probably 15-25 pounds if you starve yourself drastically enough. But goodness gracious! PLEASE, don't do that! If you starve yourself you will have very serious health problems and if you do it long enough youcan even die. Weight Loss ResultsI agree with the answer below. Fasting can be dangerous if your body isn't given proper nutrients. There is, however, an exception. When juice fasting, make sure that the juice is 100% and not "juice cocktail", which can be as low as 3% juice. It's better to buy a juicer and make your own juice. I actually tried watermelon-kiwi juice at the Whole Foods juice-bar and it was DELICIOUS, but not everyone can afford a juicer. More than likely, you'll have to drink a lot of bottled 100% juice. Bottled juice has been pasteurized, so it lacks the needed enzymes, but it still supplies essential vitamins. Still, you'll probably need to take a multivitamin and a fiber supplement to compensate for the lack of enzymes. Buy V8 reduced sodium and drink LOTS of water. Also, Juicy Juice and most Welch's brands are 100% unsweetened juice, but avoid citrus juices, because they'll do a number on your stomach.

Now that we've talked about the juices to consume, let's address the next crucial factor. You MUST NOT overexert yourself while fasting. In fact, try to keep the exercise to a minimum, as your body could very well go into shock if you put too much stress on it. Also, this would be the best time to quit smoking, if you are a smoker. If not, then never mind :) Take this time to try yoga, meditation, and get more in-tune with your spiritual side. Maybe it's not your thing, but I find that cleansing your body and mind simultaneously can do your well-being "wonders". Not only will you see yourself as healthy, but you'll feel a lot more energetic and motivated than before.

Typically, you'll lose about 3 to 4 lbs a day for the first week, and then you'll average 1-2 pounds a day afterwards. You could very well lose 30 pounds or more in a month, but you must be careful. If you have a certain health problem, like Asthma or high blood-pressure, then you should consult your physician first.

Fasting Isn't Good[I don't know how much weight can be lost on a juice fast, but no type of fast is really safe. You lose muscle (including your heart muscle) and losing muscle makes you less healthy and lowers your metabolism and makes you more likely to gain weight. You usually gain all of the weight back after a fast (or even more). Most of it is water loss anyway, so it comes back easily. When researchers try to make skinny people GAIN weight, they've found that making them do any kind of strict diet or fast will make them put ON weight afterwards.]

WELL, I disagree. Fasting for a long period of time is definitely no good (for obvious reasons,) but fasting for a specific period of time, say two to seven days, with a juice diet (called 'elimination diet') does a lot of good to our body.

The most important benefit from a juice diet is the detoxification of your body. Your body in a regular diet accumulates more toxins than the liver can eliminate. Therefore these toxins linger around making the immune system work harder. During a juice diet your body has a period of time to catch up on the elimination of those toxins, and the juices usually induce this detoxification by increasing the production of bile and enhancing all liver functions, of which our medical science knows very little by the way.

Also during a juice diet your digestive system takes a brake. The assimilation of nutrients from a regular diet is usually a digestion process of two to five hours (depending on the food) which it also requires a large amount of energy from our body and it is usually a stressful process for our digesting organs. A juice is usually assimilated (nutrients taken into your blood stream) in about 15 minutes with minor efforts from our digestive system.

Finally but no less importantly, juices (organic juices) contain a level of nutrition that can never be obtain via a regular eating diet. Even if the digestion process was perfect, meaning being able to assimilate 80 to 90% of the nutrients from the solids we eat, you will have to eat a immense amount of organic vegetables and fruits to really obtain the level of nutrition that juices can provide you with.

Oh, but what about the proteins!!! Oh! the darn proteins...it will be great if all of us would do our own research and put out once and for all that myth. It is true that the industrialization of our vegetables and fruits have rendered them of about 30-60% of their proteins, but there is not reason why we can get those levels of proteins back up with a proper organic growing process.

You will either lose nothing or put weight on. It takes around 3 days for your body to adjust to starvation, only after this will you begin to lose weight and fat. Not much more than you can with a normal diet. A normal diet makes you lose approximately 1-2 pounds per week and fasting has the same basic effect. This is why dieting is much more popular - it is safer, easier and you won't have to worry about getting the minerals and vitamins that your body is desperately craving for when you are fasting. If you necessarily want to fast, I would suggest the 5:2 diet or Intermittent Fasting. You can find more information on them by Googling the name of those two diets.
