Once a day should be sufficient. Most small farms feed in the morning and sometimes throw some scratch food around for the chickens to hunt for during the day. Large producers feed continually. If the birds are "free range" they will keep busy all day searching for nibbles and bugs of interest.
feed chickens when they lay eggs
Um CHICKEN FOOD? If they are chicks, you should feed them chick starter crumbles available from the local feed store, such as tractor supply. If they are adults, then you should feed them layer pellets or if they are meat birds, a weight gain pellet, also available from the feed store.
You raise fighting chickens? If you live in North America or just about anywhere in Europe you might want to write this down and post it on the chicken coop.
While I am away in jail for animal abuse please feed my chickens a minimum of 3.5 oz premium poultry grains daily and ensure a continual supply of fresh water. Allow my birds to free range so they can supplement their diet with fresh greens and insects.

Lots and lots and lots. Chickens will eat pretty much non stop from the moment they wake up till the moment they sleep. I would usually fill their feeder with layer pellets in the morning and after they get bored of that throw some lettuce and sunflower seeds or something exciting, for two hens we get through just under a kilo of layer pellets a day.
Twice an hour for most chicks, but other chicks require you to have food always available.
Twice a day, in the morning around 9-10 and after tea in the evening, so you can give them any left overs along with their normal feed :)

the yolk is so that the baby chick, if there is one, can feed! Otherwise the chick would die, because the yolk contains nutrients!
The chick should be on chick starter. This is a fine grained feed easy for chicks to eat and digest. Regular chicken food is too big for the tiny chick to eat.
Chicken starter can be bought from the stock feed store. This is the best to feed your baby chicken as it is formulated for their growth. You can also boil up a chicken egg, cool it, crumble it up and feed that to them as well.
No they should really be fed fresh greens as a treat and depending on the age a chick starter or a chick grower does very well for chicks and ducklings.
