What are you inviting them to? Party: Call or send an invitation. Invation is the norm. You can buy them or make them. Send the name, occasion, date and plans. Then, mention that you would be delighted for them to come and to return the call. Dinner: Call them. Mention what you want to do and just flat out ask. They will be glad to be invited. Date: Call. Ask them, and don't act scared. This'll make them feel unsure. Wedding: Call or send invitations....its just like a party basically. Anything: Depending on what the occasion is, use a call for something small, and a invatation for something big as a party or a wedding.

1) Through postal services , sending invitation cards.
2) Sending invitation cards via email.
3) Create a website and send invitations to friends and relatives.
For option Shaadi Invite is the website I would recommend.
I use a site www.events-x.com. It very simply and clearly.
Create the guest list, choose an invitation card, send invitation by Email.

If you invite a business partner to a business party for example, your invitation letter will have to be very formal. However, if you invite a friend, a relative or someone you know very well to a party you throw at your house, you can write your letter more informally. How formal/informal your letter will be is given by things such as: using contractions (you're vs. you are), using polite opening sentences (dear sir/madam vs. dear Jane) and so on.

First, thank them for the invitation, even if you're not going to attend. Next, tell them that you will certainly attend. Tell them you are looking forward to coming. Then, sign it sincerely (if they are close friends, you can sign it more casually with love).
Here's an example:
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Johnson,
Thank you so much for inviting me to your daughter's wedding. I will certainly attend. I am looking forward to seeing her marry Henry.
