I doubt that the earth will be destroied by a comet in 2010. The earth was suppose to end and get destroied back in 2001 but that never happened. What makes this time so different? I wouldn't worry about it.
No, it is currently 2009, and by now it would have been close enough for detection. And what planet would it be anyway? That is just another end of the world theories, there's one for every year.
Answer 1: The comet would have to be the size of Mars. Answer 2: To literally destroy the entire planet of Earth, breaking it up into fragments, yes, the above answer may be true. However, any asteroid or comet of 1 kilometer diameter or more would give us serious troubles. And at 5 kilometers wide, would certainly end our civilization, if not quite us. Past that, we would all die, as would all life. Well, most all life bigger than microbes.
There is ALWAYS fighting going on somewhere, to some extent - regardless if there's a comet passing or not. So no, comets don't cause war on Earth. You might as well blame wars on dogs farting.
The cast of True Guardians of the Earth - 2010 includes: Rita Claremont as herself Carolyn Screech as herself David Wenham as Digger
The phrase "Spaceship Earth" is used to describe the Earth as being delicate and fragile (which it is not) and to imply that it would be easy for us to destroy the Earth's ecosystem (also not true).
True
It is supposed to be an "average" comet, but there is much speculation as to whether or not this is true. The mass of the object is still in question, and that helps promote the idea that it may not be a comet.
True. Some ion tails have been observed to extend 150 million km or more.
It is believed that Mark Twain (aka Samuel Clemens) was born the same month as the passing of Halley's comet in November 1835. Halley's Comet passed on November 10th 1835 and Twain was born November 30th 1835. Twain vowed he would "go out"with the passing of the comet, as it passes in 75 year cycles. Halley's comet passed again April 20th 1910, Twain passed April 21st 1910.
no its not true
No, it's not (Halley's is a periodic comet, but its period is shorter than that, by about ten years).
Nothing is wrong - unless it happens to collide with Earth. In this case, there may be minor or major catastrophes, depending on the size of the comet. _______________________________________ Nothing. When it comes to comets, "a miss is as good as a mile". There used to be fears, centuries ago, that a comet was an "omen", a portent of disaster. (The word "disaster" is from the Latin "dis", meaning "evil", and "aster", from "star"; literally, an "evil star".) Now we know that a comet is just a rock covered with ice, and when it gets close enough to the Sun, the ice melts and the vapor catches the sunlight. As long as the comet doesn't actually hit the Earth, there's no problem. Some people (again, centuries ago) once thought that the tail of a comet was poisonous. Not true; and there isn't enough mass in the tail to count for much even if it were poisonous.
