The Clock Tower, to give it it's proper name, is made of brickwork covered by stone cladding for the first 200 feet (61 metres) and the remaining 115 feet (35 metres) is a framed cast iron spire.

∙ 13y ago'Big Ben' is actually the 14 ton bell inside the clock, but over the years people have started calling the clock itself Big Ben. It was named after Sir Benjamin Hall who was Commissioner of Works when the bell was installed.

∙ 14y agoSomeone has to go up to the top of the big Ben tower and stop the motor for an hour to change the time for daylight savings and to change it back the fast forward the motor :p
