Well, it really depends on what philosophy you are talking about. Jefferson had many philosophies such as the wall of separation which devides states and religion, this reflects jeffersons personal life because they had just left a country where their ruler was not only the king of the people but also the head of the religion and this created a lot of conflict; Jefferson didnt wants the colonies to be thretened with the same problem.
Jeffersons philosophy was reflected on his personal life since he wrote that all men are created equal when he owned slaves and did not want to let them be free
He believed heavily in agrarian economics, due to being raised by farmers and living on plantations.
He held to a theory of natural aristocracy, that education should benefit the natural strengths of the individual to become the best they were capable of being. Jefferson himself was educated on language and law very thoroughly in his youth, which led to many colleagues recommending him for the first Continental Congress, drafter of the Declaration of Independence, Minister Plenopetentiary of France, and the first Secretary of State under George Washington.
Jefferson believed, as stated in the Declaration of Independence, that all men are created equal and are given rights at birth which cannot be taken away. He defended the freedom of Americans to enjoy these rights as free from government intervention as possible. Little known is, while he did own slaves, he fought fervently for their freedom multiple times. The original draft of the Declaration included a segment which accused King George III of hypocritical heresy for allowing the slave trade to continue, it was only by the Congress' objections that it was struck out, as New Jersey among other colonies wanted to keep slave trade running. Another time he proposed an article which would free slaves and send them back to their country of origin, this along with other articles was also shot down. Another instance of him upholding this statement was his hard-fought battle in early America for religious freedom, which he ultimately won. Being a self proclaimed theist amongst a largely Christian, protestant, society, Jefferson understood that freedom of expression and particularly religion was extremely important for the rising nation, due to Anglican oppression in English rule which was one leading cause of the Revolutionary War itself.
Jefferson obtained a large amount of his outlook from enlightenment thinkers such as Voltaire, John Locke, and Sir Isaac Newton. He collected many works of these authors and even donated his copies to the Library of Congress as replacements for copies which perished in a fire. He thought it was the right of every man to have access to the ideas expressed by these authors, to be able to learn from them as he did. This being echoed in his established of the University in Virginia, as well as his reform of the curriculum in the College of William and Mary, which he attended in his youth.
