Google provides access to large amount of aerial and satellite photography from across the globe through Google Earth and Google Maps. The map imagery is not simulated nor computer generated so the data you see is "real" as-is the traffic and weather layers that Google provides. That does not mean all KML content found on the Internet is "real" or accurate data. The data is as good as the source.
Google Earth has tools you could use. You can type in an address and see the actual place, or you can search the world yourself by spinning the globe and zooming into locations. Also, click the link below for more on how it's done!AdditionallyGoogle Earth provides access to vast amounts of global satellite, aerial and street-level imagery that Google makes available to the public through high-end enterprise-grade data servers in Google's data centers. The Google Earth client basically acts as a specialized web browser that shows the results on a map and "bookmarks" or "favorites" are called Places.
Because it is high quality. The name says it all. This is meant for cartographers, geographical studies, explorers and teachers. It also enables people to see places it is not practical to go, or too dangerous.I'm sure it is a valuable aid to vulcanologists and meteorologists as well. The other reason is not stressed in the advertising, although there is no reason to be ashamed of it. Google Earth is based on public domain data, which is free of charge because you have already paid for it once via NASA. Google Earth Pro is expensive because the data comes from commercial sources, who need to be reimbursed for the satellites and aeroplane flights that they pay for.*UPDATE* as of Jan 30, 2015 Google made Google Earth Pro available for free. Login with your email address and the license key GEPFREE and that's it.

Sorry, but you can't find penguins on Google Earth. Reasons are that either the penguins are too small for the satellites to capture, or Google engineers erased them out while in the process of making Google earth. But if I am wrong, try Antarctica.Answer #2Google Street View cameras have recently mapped a minuscule patch of land in Antarctica that is inhabited by penguins and this imagery is now live on Google Maps (and Google Earth) for all to explore. See related links to see the penguins.

There are two ways, first, Google has satellite imagery which takes high-resolution images of the earth from space, and secondly for more street-level imagery, Google has a special fleet of cars with a large pole extending from the top of the car with cameras mounted on them, the cameras take pictures of the surrounding area as the car drives which can get detail too small for the satellites to get.
