I get tonsilitis very frequently I'm afraid and I really don't want to have them removed but I get a puppy if I do does it hurt?

It hurts. No one with any sense will tell you otherwise. The surgery itself is completely painless, but when you awaken you will have a sore throat. I have an overwhelming urge to tell you, supportively and with good humor, to 'get a grip'. This is not the only uncomfortable thing you will feel in life, and frankly it isn't worth all the fuss. The torture you are putting yourself through, along with the frequent illnesses, is far worse than what you'll deal with after the surgery. AND, for me the thought of getting a puppy would outweigh by several factors of 10 any temporary inconvenience caused by having those tonsils removed. I say get it over with.
