The iPod Nano 8 GB is a sixth generation iPod that is no longer manufactured. Used and refurbished models, however, can be found on eBay and Amazon, or can be obtained through local classified advertisements or shops that specialize in the buying, selling and trading of pre-owned electronics and video games.
There aren't really any advantages to buying an 8GB IPod. The only advantage that I know of is that it would be cheap. There are some many disadvantages to buying an 8GB IPod.
The drawbacks are a lack of functionality, internal pieces and software damage, lack of brand new picture quality, no guaranty of it working like a new one and often less gigabytes than a brand new one.
What to look for when buying a cheap, refurbished TV, would be the brand name.Even though the item has been used, when it is refurbished by the company, it should be as good as a new one.
Buying a refurbished Dell laptop might mean one will only have a six month warranty versus a twelve month warranty. Other than that, there is really no real risk from buying a refurbished Dell laptop.
Refurbished items are refurbished at the factory, usually come factory sealed. Refurbished are a better by than reconditioned which are used items which have been repaired by the retailer. The benefit of buying a refurbished item is that there are substantial cost benefits over buying a new item. The risks of buy a defective item is far lower than when buying a reconditioned item.
Buying a refurbished laptop should be the same thing as buying a new laptop. As long as the company that refurbished it is reputable, it should work the same. The only downside is the technology is not new like a new computer will be. The refurbished computer has old technology and will not be as powerful as most new computers.
A 1 gigabyte RAM can extend by buying RAM upgrade chips, and inserting them into your computer.
The iPod Touch now has a maximum capacity of 64 gigabytes (only when buying that capacity).
Buying a new iPod can be bewildering as well as expensive. New or refurbished? Apple store or Wal-Mart? What's the difference between the 8 GB and the 16 GB models? How can you be certain that you are getting the best deal? Assuming that you need a lightweight minimal design that still packs the features you expect from Apple, the iPod Nano is probably a good choice for you. The sixth generation Nano is about the size of a silver dollar and is only nominally thicker. The 8 GB model can hold roughly 2000 songs and the 16 GB about twice as many. In addition, both models contain an FM radio and a set of "Fitness" features designed to complement your workout. If you buy directly from the Apple Store, you will pay $129 for the 8 GB and $149 for the 16 GB. You can definitely find a better deal at other retailers: Best Buy has 16 GB models starting at $139.99, while Amazon offers the 8 GB for about $118. For this reason, unless you really want Apple Store exclusive features such as the (Product) Red model or engraving, your best choice is to look outside Apple Stores for your iPod. Most reputable dealers will still provide the one year limited warranty which will protect you from losing money if you end up with a faulty product. While these warranties won't protect you against accidental damage, neither will the Apple Store's warranty, so you lose nothing by buying from a different retail outlet. The 16 GB is the better deal of the two models, providing twice the memory for a relatively small increase in price. Similarly, while used and refurbished models are available, at an average of about $85, they do not come cheap enough to justify losing the warranty. In addition, some retailers offer extra bargains with the purchase of a new iPod Nano, including discounted or even free cases and skins to protect the device. Since replacing a cracked screen is expensive, you'll likely want some protective gear for your iPod anyway.
== Well im a pro and if you buy the slims new like at bestbuy they come with firmware 3.60. I bought both of my slims at gamestop last month march 2008. My first was firmware 3.30 and my second was 3.50. They sell them refurbished like new.
That depends on who did the engine and how thorough they were.
