∙ 8y agoThe return of Jesus has been prophesied ever since the author of Mark's Gospel assured his readers that Jesus would return during the livetimes of his own generation (Mark 13:24-26). Since that time, there have been numerous warnings that he was about to return. The Jehovah's Witnesses several times in the nineteenth and twentieth century put an actual date on his return, only to be disappointed each time. The last fashion was that the world would end in 2012, presumably with the return of Jesus. New fashions on the supposed return of Jesus come and go, usually just far enough in the future to give hope, yet far enough off not to be too quickly overrun by events..
The more sensible among us will get on with studies, work, love and life in general. The next prophecy will come and go, today's young people will grow old, as will their grandchildren, and life will go on. Jesus is not coming soon, in fact many among us now believe there will never be a Second Coming of Jesus.
