If Jesus is greater than John the Baptist why did not John join the ministry of Jesus?

John's ministry called the people of Judea to the water of the Jordan for repentance. Jesus ministry also probably baptised i.e immersed, but his ministry was wrapped up in his work in the redemption for all mankind. So the nature of their ministries were different. So the answer is regardless of the greatness of Jesus, there was no sense in John "joining" Jesus' ministry, because their purposes were different. A painter's purpose is to paint, a pianist's purpose is to play the piano. If the painter doesn't stop painting and join the pianist, that doesn't mean the pianist isn't greater. It actually gives us no information on the greatness of either. Likewise we cannot say that either ministry is greater simply because they didn't join the other. Of course no one believes Jesus is great because people joined his ministry. The greatness of Jesus cannot be determined so.
John was also called to be the forerunner of his cousin, Jesus. When Jesus began His ministry, John's was over.

He, in a way, was in Jesus's ministry. He was the forerunner who was telling people that Christ was coming to them soon. One reason he didn't do more later on is because he was put in jail and got beheaded.

Yeshua, therefore, belongs to Israel and not to the church or any gentile cult. Yokanan, hence, did not have to "join" Yeshua's "minstry".Imagine Obama campaigning for platform that he believes can improve the American people. Does he have to abolish America to do that?
If another American agreeswith him in dogma, does he have to de-Americanize himself? Yeshua's mission was to redeem Israel. Yokanan agreed with him. They did not have to create their own ministry nor congregation to do that. It is here that the church disagreed with the Scriptures.
John's Message and Mission
That which is part of the whole is the whole; one ministry should reflect another as it all comes from the same Truth. John had fulfilled his message to proclaim the coming of the Lamb of God who took unto himself the sins of the world. This was the message given to John as it was placed before him, before he was born and he completed it. Jesus is Greater, but we come from the greater of the whole and hopefully one day to return to it as John did.
